Rachel’s Journal

First of all, I think the journal format is better than the traditional narrative format for this story. I think it’s better because it is first person point of view. The traditional format is second person which doesn’t allow you to know the author’s feelings or thoughts.

For example, in first person view you can know the characters emotions and their feelings about what happens. In the story Rachel was feeling scared that behind the bushes there was a cow instead of a brave. Another reason I think the journal format is better is because in the journal format you can illustrate your thoughts. Rachel drew drawings to go with her writing.

Another way I think the journal format is better is it makes you aware of what happens like you are there. It gives you information about how the character feels “My shoes are so caked.” The journal format helps the character to reflect on events. For Rachel meeting with the brave wasn’t as bad as she thought it would be. Rachel was relieved that will was ok and not dead.

Lastly, do you also now think the journal format is better than the traditional narrative? Have you learned about the journal format? If you are a kid are you going to write a journal format for your next essay? I think the journal format is better than the traditional narrative for this story.
