During World War ll when the Nazis were taking over a lot of land they took over Denmark. Two girls named Annemarie and Ellen lived in Copenhagen, Denmark. Soon the Nazis where collecting the Jewish people of Denmark and Ellen and her family were Jewish, so Annemarie’s family helped hide Ellen’s family from the Nazis. To get to Sweden which was not taken over yet. Peter Nielsen, Annemarie’s families friend helped Ellen’s family get to Sweden because he was part of the Danish Resistance. Eventually he was caught and executed by the Nazis. When World War ll was over a lot of people were sad because a lot of people had died.
I enjoyed the book before the ending but the ending was sad and I don’t really like sad books. The book was really exciting with its sad and happy moments. I was always on the edge of of my seat if one of the characters were stopped by a German guard.
I would recommend this book to people that like fictional page turners that are about history or important events that happened many years ago, then if that fits your choice of books then I think you should read Number the Stars. I hope that you consider this as a book choice to read for you. I would rate this book a four out of five.
